The Abundant Pantry

The food pantry has been busy. We have served ten plus families a week, many with children. Keeping the food pantry stocked is becoming a challenge. Some families with children have even asked for help for clothing or shoes and sneakers for their children, and blankets, etc.
When a need such as this comes up I generally call around family and friends for donations. I’d like to put together an email list that I can send out when a need arises. This way I can reach more people more quickly rather than make telephone calls. If you’d like to be a part of the email list, please

and I’ll add our to the “Pantry Postings” email list and you will get a message whenever I post a need for something specific to a family.
With autumn and winter coming upon us, I anticipate the pantry needs to only grow greater. Two weeks ago I was invited to speak to a local girl scout troop about he pantry and why it was started and who we help. It was a moving experience for the girls and the scout leaders. They have offered to do a neighborhood food drive for us. They also put together school supplies and backpacks for nine children in need. I’ve also been in touch with a reporter for the Georgetown Record who has agreed to do a story on the pantry this month. Hopefully the story will generate some local town support.
Another thought to help keep the pantry stocked is to place a food basket in the lobby of our church for donations from our own church family. When you go food shopping each week if you can afford to pick up an extra food item for the pantry and bring it to church each Sunday to place in the food basket, this would be a great help. There are many of us, one item each every week or so would be extremely helpful in keeping the pantry well stocked. A suggested list of food items is below.
If you’d like to make a monetary donation, please write a check to NLCC and reference “Food Pantry” in the memo section f your check. Your donation will be used solely for the food pantry and the amount will be a tax deductable donation. The pantry has not only been available for providing food, but onversation, fellowship and an opportunity to witness. Praise God, e’ve had this opportunity many times!
Gail Eppler and I run the food pantry. If you have any questions, lease see one of us. The food pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 .m. until 12 noon. If you know of anyone who needs our help, send them our way!
God Bless, in Christian Love,
